As of July 29, 2010, new rules have been added to make all tours smoother and easier for you guys, and easier for us too. If you are not willing to cooperate, you are out of all tours.

RESPECT THE ARC

I received Unearthly by Cynthia Hand in the mail today and I was soooo excited to finally get it and read it.My happiness was short lived, however, when I opened the envelope and found out that the book was worn, its spine completely broken and creased and its edges white from lack of cover.I was stunned.I still cannot believe that book lovers actually treat books like that.I am not talking about any participant of the Unearthly tour in particular, since I can not possibly know who's fault it is.But please!Stop and think:if they were your books, would you treat them like that?I don't think so.But even if you did, remember that these are NOT your books!
I really really hope I won't receive another book in this condition ever again.

Agreed but you have to keep in mind how many people have read that ARC while it's been on tour. ARCs are not made to withstand multiple uses. Heck, half the ones I receive are falling apart (pages falling out) before I even get to the middle of the book. So, sometimes it's not the people, it's the product.

Well in this case only 6 people got it before me.And I assure you, I have gotten ARCs after friends have read them and they are brand new.

It was fine when I got it... Granted I was number two though. And I sent it in the same condition I received it in and there was nothing warped or bent pages or anything. :/ Bummer about the book though cause it was a phenom read. The finished copy looks sooo pretty and shiny. There is a whole display at the Barnes and Noble I work at. :)

I just got the book today and you're totally right.Granted,ARC's are not created to withstand multiple uses but still...The specific cover is so thin that the spine at least shouldn't be that bent.Anyway, what i want is to read what's inside of the book but it's sad to see sth like that...It actually reminds me of library books after way too many uses.

I have started putting the plastic library sleeves on the books for UK Book Tours as I noticed the spines were getting battered, etc such a shame as tour sites provide such a great service for people like myself who love to read the books but just cant afford to buy them all
